Naruto

Naruto Uzumaki (うずまきナルト, Uzumaki Naruto) is the main character of the series. He is a member of Team Kakashi and the Jinchūriki of the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox.

Background

Naruto was born the son of Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, and Kushina Uzumaki. Before his birth they had decided to name him after the main character in Jiraiya’s first book, hoping their son would be as great a ninja as the character (who was based on Jiraiya) was. This made Jiraiya Naruto’s godfather. Soon after his birth, however, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked the village of Konohagakure. To save the village Minato sealed the demon fox into Naruto’s body, believing that his son would someday use it. Minato died afterwards, leaving Naruto to grow up knowing nothing of his parents. He received his mother’s last name, which Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, felt that it was best that nobody knows he was related to the Fourth Hokage.

Before Minato died he asked that the villagers of Konoha to view Naruto as a hero who had helped to stop the demon fox. Few did as he asked, instead of openly resenting him for containing the monster that had destroyed their home. In light of this, the Third Hokage made a decree that nobody should ever speak of the demon fox sealed within Naruto, hoping that their children would not resent him as they did. The children, however, followed their parents’ lead, not knowing why. Naruto was forced to live confused over why the villagers hated him so and strived to win their recognition. Iruka Umino would be one of the few exceptions, who was always compassionate to Naruto’s plight. For this, Naruto came to view Iruka as the father-figure he never had.

Personality

Before graduating from the Academy, Naruto had a craving for acknowledgment. He would play pranks all around the village in an attempt to be recognized by its inhabitants. He would also tell everyone who doubted him on a near-constant basis that he would one day become Hokage. As he tells Iruka, he wishes to achieve this rank in order to be recognized by those around him, and to have the responsibility of defending them. Even after graduating, Naruto is still determined to be recognized, and becomes the “Number One Loudest, Unpredictable, Hyperactive Knuckleheaded Ninja” of Konoha, as described by Kakashi Hatake. As the series progresses with Naruto makes more and more connections with others, his reasons for wanting to become Hokage undergoes a change, having less to do with the desire for recognition, and more to do with wanting the strength to protect his home and the people close to him.

Naruto’s exuberant personality and fiery desire for self-improvement strongly impacts the lives of those around him. At the beginning of the series, Naruto befriends Konohamaru Sarutobi, the grandson of the Third Hokage, and it is through his brief tutelage that Konohamaru learns that the path to success is through plenty of hard work. Kakashi describes this as Naruto’s “unique power,” as he seems to change the world views of everyone he meets and inspires courage for the future within them.

Naruto is relatively naïve, being slow to understand jutsu principles and often requiring a dumbed-down analogy in order to grasp what is being explained to him. This assumes he is able to keep his attention long enough, as he commonly seeks to change the subject in light of his ignorance, outwardly insisting that he already gets the concept. Though he retains this confidence in himself to great degrees, loudly proclaiming that he will master whatever technique he is learning in a fraction of the usual time, he will not hesitate to ask for help if he needs it.

As an extension of his naivety, Naruto has a number of childish traits. His pajamas always include a comical black nightcap with eyes and teeth, and he keeps his money in a chubby, green-frog wallet he affectionately calls “Gama-chan.” He almost exclusively eats ramen, and is a frequent customer at the Ichiraku Ramen Bar. He has a natural affinity for perverted ideas and jutsu, something he tends to be reprimanded for by Sakura and that is only brought to new levels after meeting Jiraiya. He also smiles near-constantly, which during his childhood was to mask the sadness of his lonely life. Those who are closest to him are able to recognize when his smile isn’t genuine.

When the situation calls for it, typically when someone dear to him is in trouble, Naruto can be very serious and will instantly come to their aid. This is most commonly seen in the series through his interactions with his teammates, Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno. With Sasuke, Naruto views him as a brother and throughout Part II strives to bring him back to Konoha despite his defection from the village. With Sakura, Naruto has a long-standing crush on her, and will do all in his power to make her happy, even if it is at the expense of his own happiness. Recently, Hinata Hyuga has confessed her love for Naruto which has caused Naruto to worry about her; weither or not this means he’s grown feelings for her in unknown.

Appearance

As stated by Jiraiya, Naruto bears a striking resemblance to his father. Naruto possesses similar blue eyes and spiky blond hair. Naruto is regularly seen with an upbeat and eager persona, always eager for something such as learning a new technique or a hot bowl of ramen. A trait regularly mentioned that easily angered him was his short stature even for his age. During Part I, he was one shortest of his graduating class, second only by Hinata. During Part II, he had a significant growth spurt that was noticeable to all, as first mentioned by Sakura who stated he was much taller than her. Even Kiba states that Naruto has become a “giant.” Also earlier in the series, Naruto used to squint his eyes a lot when confused, but stopped after awhile.

Plot Summary:

Naruto closely follows the life of a boy who is feared and detested by the villagers of the hidden leaf village of Konoha. The distrust of the boy has little to do with the boy himself, but it’s what’s inside him that causes anxiety. Long before Naruto came to be, a Kyuubi (demon fox) with great fury and power waged war taking many lives. The battle ensued for a long time until a man known as the Fourth Hokage, Yondaime, the strongest ninja in Konoha, fiercely fought the Kyuubi. The fight was soon won by Yondaime as he sealed the evil demon in a human body. Thus the boy, Naruto, was born. As Naruto grows he decides to become the strongest ninja in Konoha in an effort to show everyone that he is not as they perceive him to be, but is a human being worthy of love and admiration. But the road to becoming Hokage, the title for the strongest ninja in Konoha, is a long and arduous one. It is a path filled with betrayal, pain, and loss; but with hard work, Naruto may achieve Hokage.

Naruto Uzumake is a boy, who has contained the kyuubi demon since he was a baby, now he has grown up, despised for whats inside of him, Naruto trys his hardest to become reconized and hopefully fullfill his dream of becoming Hokage, the leader of his village Konoha.

I have been watching this anime for over two years now and going. It has aired on Cartoon Network Adult Swim the past couple of months dubbed over. I prefer the original japanese with the subtitles, because the dubbed over episodes dont sound right, and I am far ahead with the series then the one being aired on Cartoon Network.
This is an immenesly successful anime, with a fantastic story line and endless array of characters. The story of course surrounds Naruto, but you get to know all the other characters which make it even more interesting. Once you start watching this series you get caught up more and more, because there are a lot of good story lines with a few fillers. They have also made a Naruto Movie.

The main story line is the one that draws you in, and I find Naruto to be an amazing character and there is so much to him. Also you can see the development of the other characters through the story lines. Each one of the developing new Ninja techniques to use in the field. Sometimes there are filler episodes inbetween major storylines or just to give some space and thats what kills, because you want to know whats happening next. This show airs every wednesday in Japan, and so we get the subtitled torrents by thursday or friday at the latest thanks to Dattebayo. And this show is at season 8 and still going strong.

A good source to keep up with Naruto is Narutofan they always have updated information about the anime and the manga, and they have many things explained in their library of information.

Now, I've never even seen Naruto, but as an anime fan, I know how important it is to get subtitled Japanese dubs to avoid bleeding out of your ears from the often subpar English translations and dub work. Sure, they're getting better all the time, but purists prefer the original language if possible. Well, when Naruto: Rise Of A Ninja was released for the Xbox 360, Ubisoft promised a free download via Xbox Live that would let you play with Japanese voices, and today they have delivered.

The official Japanese Naruto voice cast is now available via Xbox Live Marketplace as a free download (only Silver account required!). Just boot up your game, and select XboxLive Marketplace from the main menu, download the Japanese voice package, then activate it in the options and enjoy!

(Now, why this wasn't available as an option at the game's launch is a mystery to me... but better late than never, right?)

Karuhi asks Naruto. “Your called Naruto? Naruto as in Uzumaki Naruto who beat Pain the Akatsuki leader and who trained under the legendary Sannin Jiraya?” “That’s right, that’s me and therefore I understand your feelings for Killerbee because Jiraya was also killed by the Akatsuki leader Pain. Why do you ask?” Naruto returns. “I just couldn’t believe a simple mind like you would be able to do that.” Naruto feels offended but didn’t show it. “So I wanted to know. Anyway what is with the Uchiha renegade you said you will provide us any information you got.” She comments. “I said I will and I will. I will tell you while we search for your master together.” He loud speaks. Sakura who calmed down then states. “What? only if you take me with you.” Sai also speaks. “Count me in as well.” “Well, since your defeated Pain, you sure wouldn’t be a burden and I saw you fight. Omui you also agree?” she asks. “I’m fine with it and that Sai guy also seems to be a usable fighter if we encounter someone mean. We sure could use some backup if a mean Akatsuki shows up. If me meet with Akatsuki the will bomb the fighting place we’re on. This will cause a big earthquake which destroys all near villages…” he starts to say but Karuhi pissed interrupts. “Stop that, will ya. However we are OK with it, only our leader Samui remains but if we tell about your skills she also won’t mind.” Karuhi explains. “But this girl, she is kinda cute…” Sakura shivers a moment. “…seems pretty useless, we shouldn’t put her in danger. If we hit a mean Akatsuki she will be in danger. The Akatsuki will attack and finally kill her first. Then he laughs evil and attacks us. After we killed him we lost this pretty and I couldn’t bear it and…” He again starts a story. “Sigh, will you ever change… Anyway I must agree with him. During our little brawl she seemed kind of useless and only caught hits…” Then Sakura yelled in anger. “What did you just say… I’m may not be as strong as Naruto or Sasuke but I ‘m Tsunades student and an excellent medical Ninja, not to mention my dodging and punching skills…” Then Kakashi comes in. “Calm down you two. I saw everything in here and I must say impressive especially from you Naruto but however, it won’t be that easy. You just can’t leave the village so easily or else you will be missing nins like Sasuke is. You need the approval of the Hokage to do so.” He lectures them. Naruto is angry.

Switch scene to Danzou

“So the Kage summit is about to start and it will be hold in one of the small neutral countries in our neighbourhood?” Danzou says to Samui. “Yes indeed and you should now tell me about this Uchiha kid if we’re gonna to chase him.” Samui says. “Sure, sure… You should know Hatake Kakashi.” He states. “Of course I do, who does not know about the legendary Copycat Ninja of Konoha but what has this to do with the information you promised us and which I now demand.” Samui enraged says. “One thing after an other. He was the Jounin in charge of the Uchiha you search for while he still was one of Konohas Ninjas. He will give you all information you need. Just take this order to him and you will learn everything. Then he summons a letter. He should be somewhere in our village and helping rebuilding. I now want you to leave. I must make preparations for my parting. My regards.” He finishes. While she leaves she thinks. “I don’t like this guy. He has something at him which makes you creep and he is a cold, logic warmonger… We should stay aware of him but there is more eager business to take care of now. The killing of Uchiha Sasuke.”

“So the summit about further actions will be held soon, I just wonder if it will be better to take Sai as my bodyguard with me. Since I ordered Kakashi to lock Naruto away in Konoha until I say something else it should be okay. The other Kages don’t like me much and the Tsuchikage not even likes Konoha while the Mizukage is a mystery it may be better this way…”

Samui appears sudden and sees Kakashi. “That is a nice coincidence, Kakashi Hatake I just met the Hokage for information exchange and he gave me orders for you to tell me about this Uchiha kid. I hope you will fill them immediately.” She says. “Orders? Let’s see” he wonders. “Sensai Kakashi, what orders?” Naruto asks. “They say I shall tell the cloud nins everything I know about Sasuke.” “What were you two doing Omui, Karuhi and why are standing around with them?” she asks. “Well, we thought we gather information by ourselves.” Omui answers. “And?!” “Well we just met the former Team mates of him. One is a girl who seemingly still loves him even after learning what became of him and the boy who is the Kyuubi host and the one who defeated their leader Pain.” Karuhi says. “Did you find out anything about this Sasuke at all?” Samui with a lifted eyebrow curious asks. “Well, he said master Killerbee could be still alive and that our first goal should be to search for him.” “And you believe him? Idiotic.” She argues. “He seems not to try anything strange besides he knows about our loss because Pain killed Jiraya who mast his master. Further he promised us to give us all information if we take him with us while we search.” Karuhi concludes. “Is that so? I want to talk to him myself. Is it the blonde ore the black haired one?” she ends. “The blonde and naive boy there.” Omui comments. “So, then I will follow this orders for now” Kakashi announces and soon after Samui comes to them. “That fits well, I will tell you about everthing about Sasuke though Naruto would be better cuz he had more contact with him alone than me. Anyway, let’s start…” Kakashi starts to reveal all about Sasuke…

Some panels about their movement with one half of Zetsu and Sasuke thinking. “Naruto beat Pain, unbelievable. After I killed Danzou I will head to Konoha with his head and kill Naruto as well. I will proof he is still weak and besides, he killed the one who destroyed Konoha, which I want to do. He will pay, all will pay…” Then Zetsu speaks to him. “What is Sasuke, something seemingly bothers you; doubt you would be able to kill him?” “…” “Of course he will, Sasuke is the strongest Ninja of all. But what IS this Tobi guy?” “I never saw Sasuke like that…” Suigetso thinks.

Tsuchikage dono, we received an invitation to a Kage summit regarding the latest moves of Akatsuki. It will be held near Konoha and all Kages will be there, shall I tell the messenger you will come as well or shall I sent him in to report everything?” a Hidden Rock ninja shouts. “No need now, you can tell me later as well. Tell him I also will come and sent him back.” He calm says. “Understand Tsuchikage-sama.” Then he rushes out. “I see, this may be a chance to get revenge at Konoha, this will be interesting…” Someone enters from the shadows. “A Kabuto, you finally here, this means you eventually acquired the power of Orochimaru you wanted so long?!” the Tsuchikage asks. “Yes master though the cells still won’t give up but this is only a question of time…” Kabuto strange states. “Well, you sure has much to report and I’m eager to hear it. It is just sad that we have to erase Konoha ourself instead of let Orochimaru do it…”
